Brendan, isn't 9a simply a part of every 24d?

Personally I'm flummoxed by 18d, I have O_Y _ _ _ A _ for "Dweller on mountain, one seeking gold in 10, 24 down."

I can think of a 4-letter word O_Y _ which is something that lives on a mountain, but that doesn't seem to help me find the solution!

Where am I going wrong?

Still chipping away at 2d, but can't get a handle on 16d.
Sorry if previous post was too explicit - I'll stick to hints in future.

9a is another word for 10a, and an early part of 24 d. Very neat clue, IMHO.

@JustSolve

9a Yes, it is and also a synonym, of 10a.

18d Your letters are correct. For "dweller on mountain" think the Greeks and what event always takes place in a 10,24d? (i only just realised this!)

Sorry, I must have been on his wavelength today. Probably the fastest I've solved a prize (there was still some coffee left in my cup). But very nice clues I thought. Now onto The Listener.

Hi Jack, I inadvertently gave an answer a while back so you're not alone:-)

16d the definition is "romantic female role today" (perhaps a modern, liberated woman might be this today - but much less so in the past (at least that's what I think the setter is saying)). it's a 3 letter word for "for" and a 5 letter word for "model"
