Glad I could help. Yes, it's a totally inelegant word really!

Would appreciate advice on 26 Down. I have absolutely everything else, including all misprints and 9 SENOTS. Is 26 a tenth? According to my misprints & the message, the required letter is an R. I think it might go at the front of the second word of
"About eight spies holding Hezbollah's initial phone number back"

I have A?ATHI?.

Turast, you're correct about the misprint and its location, but you're second A is wrong. There's no S... involved.

You need the usual American spies with the usual 'phone' ('back ' affects both) and the usual 'Hezbollah's initial' inside. I'd never seen or heard of the word before, but it's in Chambers. It looks very similar to/is almost a word meaning exactly the same.

Almost done with this. It has kept me entertained for most of this week. However, if 21ac is 'debatable' and is not thematically altered, I cannot work out the fungal disease at 16d. The clue is 'Fungal disease greatly held up all beer brewing' (10). Any help would be greatly appreciated.
