It's not a bad crossword, but I think - as others seem to - that a Christmas xwd should be pretty tricky. This was a nice trot rather than a hair-tearer. Even so there are some difficult clues.

I am stuck on 64a 'Friend' dropping container in trip (4). I have ?oey but think my E may be wrong.

And there are two acceptable spellings for 48a Full-figured behind, wearing new line (6). Have I missed the indicator as to which is to be entered?

Piffleworthy, your letters for 64 A are correct - it's Friend from tv. Take a short container out of a word for 'trip', voyage...

For 48 A, I think only one spelling works with the 'behind' in the clue.

Piffleworthy, glad I could help. I had to check Chambers to make sure the second version of 48 wouldn't work.

Two quick queries from me, please. I’ve finished it, but two issues with parsing.

50a - Like glance ignoring a cavity (7). I have the solution (cavity) but can make no sense of the wordplay.

35d - Social workers found in underwear by priest (4). They’re ‘social workers’, and they can be found in your pants. But where do priests come into it?

Thanks in advance.

Quiz - g(a)lenoid and p for priest + ants is how I parsed them.

Thank you - yes, both make sense, with a bit of dictionary digging for ‘glance’!

I’m obviously not as quick as threat of you
Any hints on the quotation or the poet would be appreciated
