14 Involves a slightly dodgy homophone for 'people treated' (ie in hospital).

24 Think 'just one Cornetto...' , they're in the ad!

PS It's always good to give the clues, easier to reference bits in them! I didn't print off the puzzle, so haven't got them to hand.

Thanks Malone

I managed to get this one but couldn't parse it. Now I can. I would have helped if I'd taken in Brendan's first comment on this thread!

Just a few left now, but I need to go to bed.

What about 23d Somewhat squeamish nanny's contribution to the Talmud (6) I have ??S?N? Is it a hidden word? I've googled this now and confirmed the hidden word

23ac Emperor king gets in amid dodgy circle (6) I have ????D? I've got this now. I guess it was obvious

6d It could denote feet of little note (6,4) I have ?I?U?E ?A?K

18ac Draws breath, since fleeing raiders. I have a G&S solution but cannot parse it.

Hi Roof,

Re 23d - Yes, it is hidden.

Re 18a - 9 letter word for 'draws breath' with the first 2 letters removed (since fleeing)

Last one which evades me - 4d "penny fills black pudding, which emits gases" (3, 4) ?E? P?P? Second word must be pipe but I cannot for the life of me think of a 3 letter word that makes a two word phrase to fit the clue! Help!

BAGLady, you just need a three-letter word meaning 'black' before your 'pipe'.

I found that one obscure too, but there is a 3-letter word that means "black" - think Whitby!

Yes - of course! Thank you.

Must start some brain training in readiness for the big Christmas crossword. Usually Maskerade and usually fiendish.

Merry Christmas and HNY to alll fellow cruciverbalists!
