Thank you once again drxx. That gives me something to work on when I get back in later.

Although I have what I think is the correct solution for the crossword including the phrase to be appended, I have two queries;

I can’t parse ‘ Winning score in dojo, comp champ finally resolved.’

Also I can’t see a strictly logical method of ascertaining the two appended words.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Look at the starred clues in each group individually; 1. the letters removed before solving, 2. the letters required to be added before solving. Both "sets" in clue order.

Thanks for getting me over the line drxx with that last push. The second word was a completely new one to me.
