Yes, enjoyed it very much. Challenging but not super hard for those wondering whether to have a go.

Please, what is a checked cell?

A checked cell is one where there is a crossing answer so, for example the cells at the top and bottom of the 3rd column are UNchecked.

Just starting to look at this and wondering if, for example, (say A was 2) then is AAA = 222 or 2x2x2? I'm assuming the latter.

Yes Simon you are correct. You should be able to deduce A straightaway.

The best thing about this numerical is that the letter substitutions confirm the maths solution is correct - as a perfectly literate instruction evolves. It took me as long to figure out how to fit the answers as it did to work them out - at least I can now enjoy what is left of the weekend, something denied to me by last weeks horror!!

I'm having a bit of a problem making sense of the instruction.

Apart from 1 rogue letter, it makes sense: 3, 5, [rogue letter] 6, 3, 5, 11, 2, 5

Could someone give me a hint as to how to interpret that extra letter?

Your rogue letter should be an s, pluralising the 5 letter word in front of it?
