36a is a genetic term. Involves an anagram of emigrant. O is the missing letter in wordplay.

Have stared and failed for 30 mins, wondering if I have had a brain aneurysm.

Panic over, after 39 mins I have solved 9d.

Tough to get going. I'm at a loss for the final (in clue order) one of the 5 thematic ones. I have all checking letters, but Chambers, Collins, Mr google all lack a corroborating definition. It would help if I could solve the clue, of course ...

cockie - the elements of the 5th thematic are of a different type from the others.
But I'm stumped by 32. Can anyone help?

I've gone for the flower sunray (it's also Greek for 'star' I think) the wordplay works ok - 3 letters for 'upset' (we see it a lot in crosswords) + 'queen' =R
