I can only assume Brendan is enjoying the extra hour in bed!

Unfortunately no-one told our child about the clocks going back, so I’m “clocking in” here a net hour early.

Enjoyable this week, got held up with several but there should hopefully be nothing that has people scurrying to chambers.

I loved 24d, such a great use of language.

Hello everyone! My first post in a long while (used to be known as Lostintranslation). I'm far from seeing the end of this puzzle, but 24d is a beauty indeed.

An enjoyable crossword. 1a is brilliant and also 24d .

I agree with previous posters. This was a good well-constructed puzzle.

Potential spoiler alert:

29a raised an eyebrow or two. I thought it was a cardinal rule of crossword setting never to include in the clue a word that's in the answer.

Aye -- so much better than last week's (no typos for a start!). Took me ages to parse 13A until I finally realised that, yes, he was pretty unprofessional!

By which I mean, a separate word in the clue that appears as a separate word in the answer. 24A is an example where a separate word in the clue appears as part of a larger word in the answer.

Hi Halloway
Not the first time this setter's broken that rule, I'm afraid.

Hi Richard, thanks for stepping in. I had my nephews stay last night (apparently there was some rave nearby - these crazy kids!).

Agree it was an excellent crossword, and again, as is usual with this setter, the first and last clues rhymed.

Like you, my COD is 24d, absolutely inspired.
