47d "Sorcerer initially hated terribly old curse" (6)

?D?A?H Presumably an a anagram of HATED, with the definition being an old curse, but can't see where sorcerer (even if it's the initial S) fits in.

Any help much appreciated.

Gooner, yes the S is just from Sorcerer. In Chambers, the word has an apostrophe before it. I'm sure you've got the right answer!

Hi Gooner, it's an odd word (at least I've never seen it)

'SDEATH - It's in Chambers as 'an obsolete oath'

Thanks malone and brendan; it's a new one on me.

Just one left: 25a "Girl half rejecting modern times" (5)

D?N?A Looks like has to be DONNA and can see AD for modern times but not sure of parsing for the rest.

Again, any help much appreciated.

Anno D(omini), half of modern times, AD, rejecting = reverse it.

Gooner, in case that wasn't clear - Anno D is half of Anno Domini, modern times.

Glad you got your curse sorted.

Thanks malone for the help in finishing this.

I usually do the Saturday Times before the Jumbo, but had to abandon it today as could hardly get started.

Will give it anther go but am anticipating some rather more modern curses will be involved

Gooner, thanks. I had a similar experience this morning. I usually think of the normal Cryptic as my 'warm-up' exercise, but found it harder than usual.

Some weeks I do well on this, other weeks are like pulling teeth and this is one of those weeks. When I saw the answer to 47d (basically a word that does not exist) I knew I would not enjoy this. Wouldn't mind a couple of explanations before giving up:
5 Novel about Churchill's bunker (3,6) The ------
15a Two toys are nearly maximum price (3,6)
Top dollar? (is dollar a toy?)
17a No time for sexy poetry after hard alexandrines (6,5)
