Way too much obscure knowledge here for my tastes. I've never heard of The Warden, and giving "novel" as the definition was no help at all considering there are quite a few novels.
27d (Stupa) was another example, as was Alexandrines, Sdeath was the worst. I don't do crosswords to spend hours on Google.
