27a: I have the answer which I know is correct but can’t parse it - strange tale about returning dusty edition of four texts (8)
There is a redundant letter in the clue. This is what is puzzling me.
Also please help with 37a- million new coins to secure person ostentatious property (9) I have M?MA?????
Again there may be a redundant letter.

Jogamel, the extra letter is in 'dusty'. I had to check Chambers to see that the definition worked, it was new to me.

My final outline is a very rough approximation of the shape. There are 7 cells involved and I can't see an alternative.

Thank you all.
It is good to know why I was right. However I’m still far from completion - just one missing clue: 16d. Drew out last existing guts. I have SPUN but can’t parse. Anyone?
And then the mystery of the preambke. A pointer would be gratefully received....

Sounds like what I have, Tony. I found it a little disappointing, I was looking for a more elegant finish (or more pictorially pleasing!)

Jogamel, the preamble was quite logical - not always the case for me! I'm sure you'll spot the 'relevant body', which would help you finish off the unshaded squares … if you haven't already got them. Changing those is pretty straightforward if you think about an actual physical replacement/replacements.

Malone , joining up the cells in the necessary anticlockwise order gives a somewhat dented hexagon! Is this what you have?

Jogamel. It might help to count up the extra esses.
