I'm stuck in the bottom half. A hint for this one might get me restarted:

One of many awful clues. It contains a name of an actual newspaper

The last three words of the clue are the definition; the solution includes the name of a British newspaper.

Some parsing issues* for me but the 9 ac homophone did make me cringe as well as laugh, Chrise, and I thought 24 across was quite clever and 17 down amused me a bitty too.

Quid is the definition. You might have the meat with eggs!

A couple I haven't parsed (and not convinced I've got right):

I have a female bird as the answer, but don't see how it works.

27a Something written about in poem, new spins on certain verb forms (3-6)
I have the only sensible answer that fits the crossers, but, unless it's a verb form, I've no idea what's going on!
