I liked the crossword today. Some religious symmetry with 1 and 29 Across which I thought was clever.

hi Phil10000
My post was in answer to the previous poster who queried the def. in 21d.
My 'hmm' was added as I presume it was an &lit, but maybe to be taken as a kind of joke. I liked the puzzle overall

Finished quite quickly today which means it must be quite an easy puzzle as I usually find cryptic puzzles fairly challenging. However I do not fully understand why the answer to 21d is Sidney.

Change the i to Y Thomas and note 'primarily' as a clue

I was rather disappointed with the Everyman puzzle today.
There were some good clues, but far too many anagrams!
And I l prefer a bit of a challenge.....this was "done and dusted" far too soon for my liking!
I guess I had become too used to the cleverness and skill of the previous (retired) setter.
I would like to see the bar raised a bit?

I also found today’s more enjoyable than of late. I think I have been doing Everyman for more than 20 years.
However I have got stuck on 22a. I have N?O?O?S but I must have made a mistake as I have checked and can find no word which will fit. I originally thought it was an anagram of on scone.

You're letters are correct and you're also right about the anagram. It's a new sort of word (literally) that sort of applies to new conservatives.

22a: Yes, it IS an anagram of "on scones".....
The definition is "reactionaries"

Thanks
I note that two hours ago I wrote the word on my scrap paper but dismissed it as not being a word.
I really must try and join the 21st century.

Yes, I enjoyed today’s puzzle.
Much easier than it has been for a while, with some satisfying clues like 27a, and it’s always nice to learn a new word - 14a.
Long may it continue ....
