I see the gremlins have been at work today, whilst 5 and 20 are cleverly linked, they are not linked as the highlighting suggests. Took me a while to work that out!

I saw ‘out’ in 20A as the anagram indicator rather than an enveloping indicator.

Hi everyone

It must have been easy as I finished in record time for me (two hours with time off to do some chores). I don't understand bigmacsub's comments. What highlighting? I do the crossword from the newspaper.

Hi Roof, just for clarification; I only do the crosswords online as I don't live in the UK. When doing this one online if you select 5 across (and by selecting it, it 'highlights' in yellow on screen) 20 across is also 'highlighted' implying the clue is solved as one answer for 5 and 20 across.

Because the clue for 20A starts with the words "See 5 across..." I assume the editor has seen that as an instruction to link the two answers where in fact there are two separate clues and two separate answers. Hope this clears things up and sorry for boring you all.

Hi everyone, my first post but I've been using the forum for a while.
Solved the puzzle in record time but confused by the parsing on 1a, 27a, 2d, 5d, 7d and 16d. All the definitions work and it all fits together.

16a "Picked Up" implies it's a homophone for "sea" followed by a 6 letter word for "forecast"
