Has anyone finished Brilliant by Ferret? If so, could you help with the straight-line highlighting at the end please?
I've been staring at it for ages, but nothing is staring at me.

I’m in the same position as you, Tony, and so is a friend of mine who has independently reached the same stage. Can you see any “point” in the extra words in the clues?

Think typography.

Look at the puzzle title for the highlighting.

I shad grilled filled on the first day.
I am in the same boat.
Some extra words are gems. So Brilliant could be sparkling.
But other extra words are Paragon, Nonpareil, Plastic.

So no idea.
Next stage of hint please, drxx.

Sunray, one of the definitions (in Chambers) fits exactly that of Paragon and Nonpareil... this is linked to the big hint earlier.

Sunray, I should have said - I haven't done this puzzle but spotted the link between the things I mentioned.

Don't think that "Plastic" is an extra word - it's an anagram indicator.

rad's post has the keyword in quotes - then look at the entry for 'brilliant' in Chambers.

The P has just Dd.

The perimeter question has to be taken quite literally in terms of a previous hint 🤣
