Can anyone help me parse Tangi and stylos? Thanks Turast for saving me a right old slog through all the answers to find the wind quintet

Hi mullingar, it's hangi rather than tangi; hang as in fit a door + i' (in). syl(e) + (t)o + (impres)s, drawers as in pencils.

To continue with my attempt to free up everyone who's still wading through the encoding & decoding from the burden of working out just what it is I've been banging on about and the tedium of decoding every grid entry, with the letters you should already have from

PYROPE / MODEMS
WARRIOR / FIDDLED
PORGIE / MEDALS
ELANCE / SHIRTS
UMS / BUY

You should be able to get

COMPEER / TYP?OON
TOTHERS / CYCLONE
CEDRINE / ?ORNADO
VIABLE / ?AGUIO
EVES / O?OE

Further cipher substitutions become obvious when 3 well known and one not so well known wind(s) emerge. (All in Bradfords under WIND)

Thank you for your help, Turast. Very much appreciated. Even though I knew what I was looking for, I was still getting quite bogged down with the "Code" !
Thanks again.

Bit late this week as was at a wedding all weekend. Vowed never to try another Sabre after traumatic experiences with the last two, but the comments on the other board suggested it was easier than usual so had a go.

Just stumbled over the line. Agree with other posters that several of the clues were dodgy, the cypher was hard work (but doable) and I wasn’t at all sure 19a was the correct odd one out given the very tenuous connection to the others. So spent a pointless hour double and triple checking the cypher and the grid to see if there was another more related word in there somewhere.

On the plus side at least I’ve finally cracked a Sabre. Not sure I’ll be trying the next one though.

By the way, I presume that when folks here say BRB they mean TCD for the obvious reason. But what is this Bradfords of which people occasionally speak?

Mooncow, Bradford's is (Anne) Bradford's Crossword Solver Dictionary. It's a great aid! Anne B has spent years, decades, analysing crossword clues. Her dictionary 'collates and files' crossword solutions - so if you look up 'Cape' say, you get a list including Mantilla, Good Hope and so on.

Bradford’s is highly recommended. I bought it about 6 months ago after seeing comments on here. 30a this week for example. Knew I was looking for a three letter tree plus S around T to make a hillside. Went to Bradford’s for three letter trees. Ben looked like a good bet. Sure enough bent can mean hillside. Would have had to get most of the letters to get that without Bradford’s.
