A poor clue if, in the absence of crossers, there are at least three valid answers - GREEK, ROYAL and GREEN (blue)!

A friend worked at a high-tech audio factory in Burnley that was visited by Prince Philip (the same day that the Queen opened the Queen's Wing at the school where I taught in Blackburn). Apparently someone erected a large banner on the factory wall saying
"AMS welcomes Phil the Greek"!

The clue is 5-4 not 5,4 and Green-blue seems marginally better than Green blue. Not the best of clues though.

Thanks, drmorgans. Hallgreening showed the answer as 5-4, but I referred to Green Blue each time. To me the 5-4 is hardly better as it implies that Green-Blue exists as a word.

(Phillip) Green + (depressed) blue = (shade) green-blue

Thanks, Midnighter - but we had the parsing much earlier! It's the Green-Blue I didn't like, it's not really a word.

14ac) F-off, tucking into cheese roll (7 )

Answer is obviously brioche, but just cannot work out how the “och” is derived - explanation would be gratefully received,

Thanks.

Och means the same as F-Off - an expression of contempt, it's in Chambers.

Very many thanks - I'd searched for F-off and och together which would normally have worked, but nothing came up that I could see

Thanks again

Weestinker, glad I could help. I Had Brie, cheese and Brioche, roll - so looked in Chambers for Och. I was surprised to see it there, with a meaning similar to F-off.
