The preview is long and for me somewhat ambiguous.

Here it is:
Six of the thematic clues are
really pairs of clues containing
wordplay only. Each pair
includes one of each of two
groups. Entries, also real
words or phrases, are formed
by transferring a single letter
from one answer to the other
according to a principle given by
similar amendments in a number
of the normally listed clues. One
‘thematic’ clue is a red herring,
a normal clue leading to a word
which will enable solvers to
verify that their amendments are
correct.

Help with :

10a. A turban, rolled, will do for
space in circuit (6)

24a. Unknown fibres in fashion, not
worth taking seriously (7)

2d. Drinks bringing old graduate
into towns (6)

Thanks.

Hi sunray, 10 & 24 across are "straight" clues.
10. A + (synonym of turban reversed)
24 (1 letter unknown + 3 letter synonym for fibres) in the usual 3 letter synonym of fashion.
2d. Towns => owns

I have the whole thing apart from 32A. Only one word fits, but I can't parse the clue at all

Thanks, ginge. On of the annoying things about the online BRB is that it fails to give plurals in situations like heald. I must remember to hunt for the singular forms in future.

Apart from not being able to justify my answer for 6a, I've got a full grid, but I can't see how the letters are transferred between the normal clues - there are many superfluous letters with nowhere to go. Any pointers?

Hi biggus56,
6a. old => fold.
The letters from normal clues don't transfer as such. Note, affected across clues are all one way and downs the opposite. When read in conventional order these spell an appropriate maxim.
