Digit sum of 15a = 42

I'm not sure whether I view any numerical puzzles as fair, and as pointed out already you can get way down the tunnel before realising you have reached a dead end. Excel helped but only as a means of evaluating vast numbers of possible options.

I'm glad I managed to finish it, but my brain feels like it has done 150 rounds with Iron Mike never mind 15.

I'm sure I must be missing a more efficient way of tackling this, because I can't really see a rational way of paring down the possibilities towards the end, other than trial and error.

Could someone tell me which, if any, of these is correct please?

please could somebody confirm the sum of the digits for 18ac as I think that is where I may be going wrong but I can't seem to work out why

I cannot yet tell which of them is the correct one but am I can confirm absolutely that it is one of those three

It cannot be 9311337 because that would block any palindrome at 11 down

Please could somebody confirm the sum of the digits for 3d as I'm not sure I'm correct?
