has anyone been able to access it yet? - just printed off last month's by mistake!

flummoxed by this. If I put in the only possible substitute in 14, it messes up my solution for 7. And the bottom left hand corner keeps getting in each others' way ...

I haven’t finished yet, about 2/3 entered but mostly NW to SE (so can’t help with your problem). But I just cannot see any variation for 16d, as there are only 3 ‘men’ that could change and I can’t see any other ‘men’ that would give a real word.

The substitute letters in 14 and 7 are the same, which is the letter at the intersection. Then 7 is a new real word. I found that some substitute letters intersect and some don’t. In the left hand corner there are quite a few intersecting substitute letters, so maybe that is why you are in a quandary.

The second letter is changed to an r. Took me a while to find the new word.

I'm flummoxed here - thought I was on the last straight but if I make the only possible substitution in 14, I can't make my answer for 7to fit ... and the subs in the south-west keep getting in each others' way!
