As I originally tried something along similar lines but didn't get anywhere with it.

As usual, a range of inventive and excellent clues.

Tempted by jws#17 and peterm#14 but

vote goes to mattrom #15

Like a few others I felt some really good clues included what might be seen as unnecessary "fodder" so jws @ 17.

With only Paul still to vote, the current joint leaders are Rossim and JWS with 3 votes each. Mattrom has 2 votes while Paul and PeterM have 1 apiece.

Thanks to everyone for taking part. To my mind there has been some genius at work in some of the clues.
