Hi Orcadian and welcome to the Forum.
I don't have any verified knowledge of what exactly is happening with the Everyman of late but, judging by recent puzzles and, given the variety in difficulty and clue styles, there are at least three and probably more different setters that have been taking the place of the retired one we all grew to know.
Personally, I'm prepared to wait and see how all this chopping and changing shakes out. The Everyman has been a wonderful puzzle for years and it would be a shame if fans of it left based on what might be only a short term drop in form.
There has been quite a lot of views expressed on previous threads over the past month, so it might be worth your time going back and having a look at them
I hope this has been of some help and look forward to hearing from you again :-)
