Has today’s Everyman been recycled from 30 or 40 years ago? 20 across and 8 down certainly look like it!

There is an omission in 6d
The clue should read:

Funny story, flailing a baton after agitato? Me neither (5,3,2,1,4

On the whole, a decent crossword, but the pedants may groan at one of the homophones

Cerasus, the homophone I saw fully deserves every moan, groan and shaking of the head!

There may be less to complain about this week, but the former elegance of the puzzle is sadly lacking! There's some pretty hackneyed stuff.

A much better offering this week.
Don't mind at all if it's recyled.
They can't turn aside all the criticism of the last few weeks!

Well I am happy with it as I always find cryptic crosswords a challenge and usually have to get some help to finish. But today I have completed it already without any assistance. So thank you to the setter.

@Cerasus.
Yes, a much better effort this week - no disputed "errors" or grammatical queries..... though rather too easy?
Re your post no 3, the homophone in 22 across......(without giving too much away to others) ....
I checked it out......
Although in the UK we pronounce the "i" in the answer as in "bin".......apparently in America, it is pronounced to rhyme with "eye".
Maybe the setter is an American?!
