Can anyone please point out what I'm overlooking?

I've filled the grid, got the quotation and the speaker. But for it to work, I think the second letter of 22d needs to be a T. But then 22d would be ITSTAL, when surely it is INSTAL?

And I see a circled letter must be changed! Typical.

None of my sources enable me to complete 31d -'Energy rising in vigorous figure skater'(5). I have AL??V. Is this a skater I have never heard of or am I up the wrong tree?

Thanks jigjag. Google has certainly expanded my knowledge of the rink, but unfortunately has not enlightened me with such a name. Also although I have the surname, my memory of the quotation is 14 words, not 10, or more briefly 8 words not 10. Where am I going wrong?

As ever, I am confused. I have the quote and the name but can only trace the first 5 and the last 2 words of the quote and have removed only 5 letters, no amount of staring is coming up with anything other than I must have about 6 wrong answers, but I don't see how or where.
If some kind person could give me a clue where the 4 missing words are hiding I would be most grateful. Many thanks

The words are all in order, MM - just follow the route round (from the top). My removals are 3 in the top row, 4 in the bottom, and 2 on the endmost columns. Have you remembered to change one of the circled letters?

Bigf, the 'vigorous' in the clue = alive. 'Energy rising' means the 'e' moves, (upwards, it's a Down clue) in the word, so Aliev.
