Reasonably straightforward, with lots of cross referencing rather than a theme.

A good workout, felt a bit bruised by the end. From an early answer, I'd convinced myself that Keith Richards must feature somewhere but, later, had a PDM on that phrase. Still working on the parsing of....

5 I can sort of see it

Very enjoyable, wish it had lasted longer.

9 - word for turn backwards ... my first in! Can't quite see how 24 fits into the 25 wordplay - ah, yes I can ... v witty!

Would welcome first letter of 26.

notrab....if you put 65 (or 54) in roman numerals (3 letters) all will be clear.

simond9x...for 27,23 you need "too" (2,4) "extra" (prep) "piece of brilliance" (4 letters)...you'll have the defn part so I'll let you work out the rest.

5 is two words cycling rather than all the letters as more usually the case in that type of clue

25....still baffled re the parsing for this one

25 is an (one) ton (hundred) io (ten).
