In the preamble if all the substitutions are made correctly there should be 27 empty cells , I have 29 and have double checked and still have 29.
If anybody is finished and has 27 can they give me the idiots guide to where I am wrong ?

I got 27 blanks, dobbo. Have you ensured that the wearer is intact and that two words comprising ten letters are untouched too?

Also, ensure you keep the five unclued answers intact.

Everything solved, erased and highlighted, but the solution I am left with for 35ac is not in any of my reference books and when I google it, I get a load of websites in a foreign language! Clue is 'Appeal for help involving yellow growth hormone'. All my letters come from correct(?) down answers, and it still makes no sense. Any guidance please?

bigf - It looks like the definition (sugar cane) is missing. All elements are wordplay - SOS around OR+GH

Yes bigf - it happens far too often in EV puzzles.

As far as sloppy "proof reading" of the EV, I have on occasions e-mailed the EV Editor, Chris Lancaster. He has cited several reasons why the errors have occurred, human error being just one. I have asked him to print an apology in the paper, he has agreed to do that alongside the next EV., but with the provision "if appropriate"!

I also invited him to post a similar apology on this site. Which he clearly has not done! If each of you were to e-mail him at chris.lancaster@telegraph.co.uk or EVeditor@telegraph.co.uk each time there was an avoidable error we might see an improvement in "proof reading"

I wish you luck dochh.
I can think of a number of reasons why posting corrections here (or on any crossword site) might be a good idea, but the Crossword Centre's 'blackout' on live puzzles seems to take precedence everywhere.

Over the last few weeks we've had a couple of tweaks to clues forwarded by people with access to the online EV puzzle, so the head scratching here hasn't gone on too long.

I'm less worried about typos (and crossword setters/editors seem to hate the word 'sorry' for some reason).

Thank you for pointing out the error.tthe definition was baffling me.

It is very rare for an error in your puzzles which I always enjoy. How should the clue read please?
