I should have got this.I have copied sentences into grid.I have noted positions of hair letters in original grid.I don't understand what to do next.

Thanks Wakeling for trying to nudge me in the right direction and to Meursault for so much info but my standstill is standing very still. My grid is complete. I have the theme word and the instruction. I have hair (I also have its close relative MANE in the grid but I think that's probably irrelevant) but I don't have a template and think I'd quite like one as it's obviously important. I also don't have a copy grid or any notion of what to fill it with. I think a nudge will be insufficient to move me forward unless administered by a JCB. Any offers?

Thanks to all those who have nudged me to my present position, which is that I have the decoded message, but cannot find it occurring anywhere in the grid. Are the 41 cells contiguous horizontally, vertically, diagonally..? Are the separate words in separate regions of the grid? For example, the second word in the message doesn't seem to occur anywhere- the area where it seems most likely doesn't have the necessary E.

Hi macky, note the positions in your made up grid and then take the corresponding positions in the original grid.

Take care with assumptions Casanova - the ARIST mentioned earlier doesn't necessarily lead to 'aristo' - think record labels perhaps ...

Not a plea for help with the puzzle (it is complete) but is there any way of switching this damned "I'm not a robot" malarkey off? If not then I'm going to stop posting here as it's driving me nuts having to prove I'm not a bot every time I try to post..

Thanks and merry Christmas all. Managed a full grid and instruction but decided colors for 6d and consequent lair fitted very nicely. Thank heavens I came here sooner rather than later. Not that I would have fathomed the template anyway.

Thanks to Meursault and others who had solved this unaided. I think it is unfair, but I suppose it can’t be totally unreasonable if some people have cracked it. I have got it now.

I don’t think any posts have mentioned the significance of the word “Finally” in the preamble. It is not to be taken in the normal sense of the word, but rather in a literal sense.
