Thank you ChrisE. Very happy with ostrea but still puzzled why "N" should represent "new". My original thought was canis and not canid but I was barking up the wrong tree! Woof woof. (Pun intended)

Liever means more willingly (in Chambers). Lever = Prize, more usually 'prise' and add I, one.
