Thanks for all your entries, as usual it has been a pleasure working through them. I think you all deserve a mention for coming up with a clue for, what I felt, was a difficult word(s)... so well done!

Particular favourites included Steve @ 12 (you HAD to include BASQUE in one of your clues...!), ginge's lovely anagram @ 19 and SW's polished anagram @21.

Congratulations paul, cheers for hosting and the mention therogue (rather than just being an anagram it's an attempt at an &lit with Haig, arguably, being the first commercial grain distillery and the majority of Scotch is distilled (anagrind) twice.

Ah yes I did see you Haig reference ginge, though it's a whisky I've never tried (and I do like a drop!). It seemed to disappear here in England for many years, but now its back in all the supermarkets. I really liked your clue and its &lit nature, but just preferred Paul's.

Hi again therogue, I hope you don't think I was questioning your decision. I was merely pointing out there was a bit more to the clue than being a straight anagram.
