Bubber, your letters are correct - and the word is in my Chambers (13th). You haven't given the clue, and I've no longer got my copy so I can't give more of a nudge. I think anagramming was involved, but can't be certain.

PS ??? work better for blanks, easier to read.

Thanks for the tip, Malone. Will do that in future. I don’t have the latest Chambers, though had fair idea it was an anagram. Think The penny has dropped now. Cheers.

Hi Bubber

Welcome to IQ!

Be handy next time if you put clue up as I had to dig my grid out.

Nut should be net after correction of misprint.

Net or (nuts-anagram) with a word for negative at the end.

The version of the verse I found has the second word as HALVE, but my misprint letters give me HAVE (the "correct" word). Ware halve ay goon rung?

I don't think that a spoiler will go amiss at this late remove:

The version used in the puzzle gave "I have a spelling chequer, it came with my peas sea. It plane lea marques for my revue mist aches I can Knot sea"

Guess what? The spelling checker on this site has just queried "chequer"!!

Hello everyone. I was a novice at the Inquisitor crosswords and sometimes gave up but my confidence has grown by perseverance, but mostly encouragement from regulators here who so add to the fun for me.
To all newcomers I say keep going but you do need Chambers and Mrs. Bradford really I think.
To my regular helpers a massive massive thank you.

Jogamel, I hope I'm not one of your 'regulators'?! I try to be helpful, but not controlling!
