I thought I had finished but-
6d Fish,pay attention- it's a big one!

?A?S?A?K I can see Hark (pay attention)but as this is apparently 'affected' I cannot think which of the themed cards is applicable.
Can you help?

After a while, the Mephisto is fairly easy. I find I need Chambers on a disc, so you search on words within the definition though.

Saw this thread yesterday and thought I would have a go. Nearly gave up when I realised 10ac was not shibboleth as I had thought! Made a sort of sense though. This is difficult stuff but great when you finish. Where do I find Mephisto? Just a glutton for punishment me.

It's published each Sunday in the Sunday Times. Unfortunately not avilable online unless you subscribe to the Times crossword club. Subscription is an annual £25 currently, but that covers al crosswords published by the Times and Sunday Times.

Thanks AJT but will need to pass on Mephisto. There is a ban on any pennies going Mr Murdoch's way - long memories, Wapping etc. Thank goodness for cable TV or I'd be stuck with council telly!

I've come into this thread late, having started this month's Genius late, and have appreciated all of the subtle hints. I'm now finished except for 10 across, even though I get the idea (which was necessary to solve the 'treated' clues). I can't find a name that fits, or that makes sense as a synonym of the main idea. Would anyone care to help with the first letter?

10ac Is a term used in bridge for a specific 'type' of hand, it starts with 'Y'.
