Could someone please tell me where elan goes? I thought I was doing well but I’ve nowhere left to put it. I keep rubbing out and moving around. A hint as to the amphibian would also help greatly.

I assume you are talking about the decrepid plane clue. I have an answer that means speed and starts at the 4th cell of the 8th row. I couldn't work out the wordplay though!

The amphibian is a newt. insects primarily is "i". combine that with he, poo(l) and h(ot) and you get a non-word which is a cryptic clue to a children's novel (although some adults also like it!)

Yes I thought elan too. But its not. Word for a decrepit plane (or car) with top removed. No anagram involved.

Have you got the 2 books ? Someone connects them both. His name is spelled out by the bars ...some letters are capital some are small

Yes I have the 2 books and all the letters of the person who connects them - but some extra bars that don't seem to be doing anything. For example, thos under cell 3 and cell 9 in the first row.

correct ... some bars don't do anything.... have you got all the letters or do you need help spotting some?
