I have an answer for this one, but I'm not sure it is right. I have an actor without an ending. Why?

I've been struggling with this all afternoon and still have a number to get. If I'm right about 12 ac, then 12d starts with an H and my answer for that gives me a U in 18 ac. Any hints for this and a couple of others would be most welcome.
18ac Butcher turns to a vegetarian option (3,5)
I have ?U? ??A?T. It looks like an anagram of "turns to a"
21ac Wind-powered vehicle of large boy with 8 for 4 (4,5)
Again I have an answer, but can't parse it.
I have L?N? Y?C?T. Are my letters right?
I'm completely stuck on 3d Lenin spent this time eluding trial. (6)
I have ?O?B?E. There are several words that fit, but I can't work out which one is the right one. Which Lenin is it?
I'll try and get the remaining four on my own.

Thanks for the confirmation of 12 ac and now I see why.
I have also solved the anagram for 18ac. Why I couldn't see it before ia beyond me. I am a vegetarian!

3d is a monetary unit used by , for example Lenin
21 is a wind-powered boat. L for large + abbrev. for Andrew + 4 letters meaning 8 ( foreign ) I think !

You have confirmed my answer to 21 ac. I have also filled in 3d, though I can see the definition I still can't parse it.

Despite my google searches, I cannot see an answer to 21d Escorted round Nemo's first sub (4). I have L?N? Any ideas? This is my last one.

You'll kick yourself, Roof. Sub is a verb... Escorted round = three letters, Nemo's first = the usual crossword indicator.

3d If you put 'T' in front of your answer you have a synonym for 'trial'

Has anyone read the letters around the circumference of the grid?
