11a veneer is def front, veer (turn ) about en (space), extra word wrench - poor clue I thought

if you take the extra words, the first letter of each spells out the 2 instructions and the last letters give a message.

I didnt know what the film (and book) was about but Bunty's posting No. 8 was the vital clue for me

Please post again if this does not make sense

Thank you Jigjag & Bunty for explaining the left over words, will now go and find the instructions. Had the author & the title, the 6d & 24d were in. Must try harder and thank you again.
