Finally finished the grid, but still have one I can't parse.
Can anyone help please?

It is a type A, I think. i.e. the clue gives a shorter word than the defined length.

31a) Made hole in loose gown (7)

I have an entry beginning SKA... which is a lonely fish around a shrub.

I can give the full length entry, if that would help.

Many thanks in advance.

Jazzlover, the short answer is STOLE. In Chambers, "loosely, a gown". Also, to steal can be to hole a putt. The definition of the entry is the two superfluous words in 9 Down.

Thanks so much, Crucifer.
Duh! Was so sure it began SK or K couldn't spot it!
Was clearly totally brain-addled after struggling with his testing but ultimately satisfying puzzle.

Last one!
5 down:citadel supporting Troy = FORT. Is the six letter word FO?G?T forget using the clue drop from 29 across? If that makes ant sense!
Thanks in advance

You're welcome. I said 'yes and yes', but I've realised I didn't round up all the dropped clues - it seems fine though!
