This was hard! I've nearly finished, but a few are unparsed. Any hints for my last one, please?

21a River horse is caught (5)
I have R?O?I. The R and I are right but I'm less confident about the O

Thanks hywel - you're right. Vlad has spelled 15d unexpectedly!

I was a bit casual with the anagram.

Chrise - “caught” in the sense of “sounds like”

Not enjoyable today sadly.

Couldn't parse 17 or 24.

A big part of 16, if it works the way I think, is horrible.

I'm also unsure of the spelling of 9a - is there more than one way?

17 First part homophone for "the writer", second part an expression of derision
24 shy as in throw
9 is an anagram, so only one spelling possible (as with my error at 15d!)
