Read PM as "afternoon". A bit allusive, this one!

I usually find Paul a bit of a slog - although once solved the clues are almost always entirely fair. But I was surprised by this one which slipped down easily with the pre-dinner G&T. Which probably means I've got it all wrong, of course!

Hi Chrise and others
I've been strugling with this one and am stuck on south west corner. I'm also not sure about two other answers where the crossers are not right.
For 3d I have T?E?C?A?T???
For 14ac I have ?E?? ?P ?T ?A?E
Which one is right?
Any hints for 18ac and16d would be gratefully received

14ac. Your first E is wrong, so is the T.
Very modern is the definition

The first e in 14 ac should be an earlier vowel.
