Two hints for new solvers
7ac "on the radio" = "sounds like"
2dn Number does not mean "How many" it means "makes numb" i.e. deadens pain

I often got caught by number, Wally.
Other misdirections are flower = river and butter = goat!

. . and 'sewer' = drain / person who sews

'banker' = money-man / river

I am fond of these . . even though the ones I haven't seen always 'get' me

Thanks wally for hint about 2D. I am hardly a new solver - only been doing RT xwords for about 7/8 years but still get stuck often!!!! MeantIme 23A Off centre bowler for high jump? Is this a cricketing term? Only have 6th letter C so far.
