Yes I agree. And as you dont need real words in the grid, this must be a rare puzzle that was easier to set than solve.

I had prebend for 23d, which wont fit with your altered gourds, as I have the d already with boneyard

23d is stated to have 8 letters but only space for 7. Do I have to do something clever or is it yet another error that threaders were discussing last week

prebend does fit with boneyard and gourds ... all 3 have a change.... or are we at cross purposes here?

...sorry ... i see you mean 25d ... i think it's just an error ... yes it's prebend ... the last 6 letters change to make the necessary to fit with the altered gourds
