With just under an hour for final entries before voting opens, we have 15 clues from 10 setters who have braved the "spamstorms".

A warm welcome to Meursalt. I think I've seen your name before elsewhere on the forum, but not in these competitions. Apologies if I'm wrong.

I'll shortly be "dashing through the snow" with the dog, so please start voting without me.

I've only just looked at the entries now before posting and regrettably this uses a lot of your post @ 3 chrise so I'll withdraw if you wish,

Words fail .... for a change a laborious red arrows air display! (6,8)

Leave it in, ginge. It's difficult enough to clue anyway!

Very generous of you chrise and if I may tweak it slightly,

Words fail .... surprisingly a laborious red arrows air display! (6,8)

Well saying I'm out of practice, Red Arrows should be initially capitalised.

Just in time I hope for a slight tweak to mine @20 for better parsing:

Piglet's friend captures Rab, real one in Australia's merry dancers (6,8)

Definition = Merry Dancers

RAB inside ROO (piglet's friend) + REAL + I all inside AUS (Austrailia's)

Difficult challenge! I liked pigale @7 (Asplenium septentrionale is one of our favourite ferns to find in the wild), dorrien @9, jws @15/17, and ginge's efforts (of course!)

However, for the precision in clueing (once I'd worked it through), I'm going for

meursault @8

I've seen you contributing on "difficult puzzle" threads, meursault, but is this your fisrt competition entry?
