Hi roof
I knew you would finish it.
I haven't watched any of Beck, as I'm not that keen on Nordic Noir, but I know it is very popular. Is Gunwald as dim as Salvo's assistant I wonder .

As i mentioned earlier this is brilliant :really worthy of a Grauny Prize. To help those still struggling Picc's theme is in all the answers. When you do finish and look at the grid overall one wonders how it was put together. Only then will you be cross with yourself for not twigging it earlier!

This must be the best themed prize crossword for ages.

I'm assuming cross with yourself was meant to be a pun, Cedric! lol

Still stuck on 20d. I have "South African" as the definition, and HAN for "Chinese people", leaving me (assuming "kidnapped" = "surrounded") with OS for "sailor". What's the connection?

Many thanks, Chrise. I know AB, tar, salt, and Jack, but I don't think I've ever come across OS before. Must try to remember it...

A lovely puzzle but a few too many answers were words I have never heard of (11a, 2, 15, 19, 20d). Forgivable though in a puzzle based on that particular letter.
