Finished! It took about 4 hours. Just couldn't get into it, but was helped immensely by a 10 minute burst of inspiration - "cracking" 2D, 18A, 4D & 13D. 1D was almost impossible so had to resort to the big Chambers dictionary!
Favourite clue was 15A.
Crossword now safely in the post.

A bit late to this thread but only just found this forum, usually bounce answers off my mum but we are both stuck on

19d Crazed artist to make an offer

I think the answer is MANIC as that fits with crazed but how does it fit with the rest of the clue?

Not manic, if I remember rightly. The artist would be a member of the Royal Academy. The offer then leads you to a mad dog.
