The 'UN' bit = Most countries.

But the other letters?

Clue should read 'Reject a couple AFTER I have embraced most countries'

Junk (reject)

Couple AFTER 'I' = JK as in the alphabet (ijk) embraced most countries (UN) UNITED NATIONS (Most countries)

I am aware I get through this crossword on a wing and a prayer at times. Mea Culpa.

Despite having a number of letters I can't seem to see the following two:
5d "Fee, mostly, is what one works for" (4-5)

I?O? M?N?R

30d "Rent for which eg nine pounds raised more than enough" (7)

O?E?I?G looks like could be OPENING but can't see parsing

Any help much appreciated

opening looks good ... nine p (9 pounds) reversed in the middle ...can't see the go though?

actually opening is reversed hidden in the clue
