I was on a little high yesterday but yeah 17 was the maybe not so huge giveaway.

20 across is a bit of a hint as well. Very well constructed - it's very nearly a double, isn't it? Nice clues, too - although the answer to 22 down wouldn't be mine!

Come the end of it I was actually looking for double 17. 19 and 26 were my last two in which is odd in hindsight because they're not particularly tricky. Perhaps that suggests the clues aren't great.

I thought there was a couple of odd definitions in there but otherwise a satisfying solve.

So I am that slow! I got 2, 10, 24a, and some other key ones early but I could not see the xylem for the quercus

I've just noticed the Nina 17 too! Astonishing.

Which makes 15 and 17 even better too!
