Hi Stumped

I still can't see the answer to 1 across. I'm having trouble with this crossword. Thank you to forum members with helping me get the theme.
Can I also have a hint for 27ac One to kill17 acrosses around 4am? Tiger, with no hesitation.(9)
I assume I take the er off tiger. I have 17ac.

I got the Hirst, Tutu and Hird from previous hint, but can't see how that gives gives me the answer to 1ac. I know 27ac is an anagram, but what is it an anagram of?

27 You are looking at the animal and the time.

Write one differently and remove a hesitation from the other.

The definition is something that kills the insects in the middle of the grid

Anagram of 4 am written in full is part of the anagram
