Despite earlier assistance, which enabled me to finish the top right, the rest of the right side of this is still giving serious problems.

Assistance with these three may stir my feeble mind......

30A - Bargain to be found in some police state (10)
?U?E??????

18D - Film of a helmeted hornbill - very unusual (3, 8, 4, 3)
THE L??????? ???? M??
&
57A - Detective's lot to fight important case? (8, 3)
D???A??? ???

Always grateful for any assistance

Grateful thanks to all who replied.

I'd guessed 18D was an anagram, but could only get 16 letters from "helmeted hornbill" - oh, I see, you need the "a" and the "v" from "very". If I'd worked that out, I might have got it, but think it unlikely.

Thanks again

I have T?E?C and the only word that seems to fit is THEIC. If this is right, why?
