It seems very obvious now but I hadn't thought of this as I has misled myself into thinking that "alternatively leaving"was the clue meaning an alternative spelling for the word uttered when leaving someone which left only three letters for the American singer. I came to a halt when the nickname for the only singer I could think of with same ending as the correct word did not in fact have this three letter word as his nickname. He was "Jolie"

Then for downs 55D Boxer leaves sea with joy (4) I have G??? And lastly 28D Gas clan chief after hollow massacre So far I have ?E?H?N?.

I had hoped to be still doing Xword after Christmas but do seem to have got on better than usual. Whatever shall I do till the first one in January!!

46 Espresso maker is def and not an appliance in the kitchen.
