btw I played scrum half at school and college, but when I took up the game again with a club side (Extra B) and was asked where I played, I said "fly half" - enjoyed it much more!

Yes indeed.

We were the Extra B that won every week. One season the only game we lost was to St. Thomas's Hospital Second XV (7-5 - I don't know why we were playing them!)

Our biggest success was a game that was switched on the morning from 2.00 KO at home to 11.30 KO away. We still had 15 players at the start, to their 14. We were 7-3 up at half-time; then their 15th player turned up. We won 48-3!

(Tries were worth 4 points then.)

P.S. I wonder if I had said that we were Bagford Vipers rather than Old Rottinghamians, anyone would have picked up the reference?

Many thanks, everyone! (Still a bit confused as to "religious" meaning "pi" - probably all the blows to the head I took in rugby in our PE lessons.)
