Can anyone help with my last clue in this one?
25A: Maybe churchwarden's religious lesson in school?

(I think "lesson in school" probably means PE, so it could be Pope, Pope, or even Pepe, but I can't parse the whole thing from any of those.)
Cheers

Of course, trevor - subconsciously I was conflating PE with RE (interesting concept!)

I remember, one year at least, rather enjoying RE. Our teacher made it more "philosophy", and enjoyed arguments.

PE, on the other hand, I never liked (unless it was basketball or "Pirates"). Games, though, I did enjoy - rugby and cricket especially.

It was a "British bulldog" type game, though involving wall bars, beams and ropes.
