I am never satisfied untill all clues are parsed.

I was a bit dubious about parsing this one, Z being the problem.

I assumed, that the Z comes from the Polish standard monetary unit, the zloty. I guess one would value it if one was Polish!

Another possibility was Z being normally one of the three unknown values (X, Y and Z) in mathematics.

You pays your money and you takes your pick!

I took the Z as being the variable (some value), like X and Y Is Z for zloty a common abbreviation? (I'd like to know in case it ever crops up.)

I had not noticed your spelling error untill you drew it to my attention - thank you for the confessional.

I looked through your list of Z abbreviations and noted that my zloty was not included. I guess the mathematical symbol wins the day!

I feel my Chambers list trumps jazzgirl's internet list - Chambers doesn't have Z for zloty, so I'll stick with the variable.
